I'm living in suspense. I signed up to play assassins with my residence hall and I thought I just had to make it through the week but actually we're playing until everyone is dead. Now I'm scared to leave my room. I mean I'm ok with dying but I just dont want someone to pop out at me as I turn a corner. I'm too old for that. No one on my floor will kill me either because we have an alliance. I'm not even hard to find... I'm a pretty routine person.
I've already finished more than half my semester here! It's gone by so fast. I have so much stuff to do for school this week though so I've decided to write about it and all the things I stress ate in order to procrastinate even more. After all, I'm (supposedly) here for school but I haven't even talked about my classes yet..
So I'm taking 4 courses: A contemporary Australia course, a history course on race and rights in 20th century America, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer.
And yes. I'm taking an American history course in Australia. I needed to fulfill general requirements so don't judge. The first day I walked into class I felt ridiculous. I thought about dropping it because it's a third year course so all the students in there know more about history than I do anyway and I'm supposed to be American. History is definitely not my best subject and over here, and everywhere but the U. S. I think, students only need to take courses within their major. They don't have to take classes from other disciplines in order to graduate. Just another thing that America does differently.. but unlike most the other things there are actually pro's and con's to this one.
I feel like the education system here is a lot better though and my professors are all really good, but maybe I just got lucky or maybe it's because they don't have tenure so they actually care about the class :o.
My Thermodynamics professor is hilarious. He's probably made me laugh more than anyone else has even though it's a brutal class. Supposedly the most failed yet he's still the highest rated professor. Interesting combination but what have I gotten myself into??
There's also no 24 hr library here which sucks because I couldn't study anywhere past midnight even if I wanted to (basically during exams).
And Australia doesn't have any holidays unlike the U.S. We usually get a mini break of some sort every month but here they just go straight through the semester with one "mid" semester break. It kind of really sucks.
And for everyone from NC State, THEY USE MOODLE HERE. There's no escaping it but at least it's not Webassign.
