Oh boy. It has been a very busy and very eventful last few weeks.
We went to Tasmania (a small island under Australia), came back for a few days, then flew off to Queensland (east Australia) for spring break!
Note about the planes... you have to walk outside to board the plane! I like it. It makes it more exciting. The trip just feels more official haha.
Tasmania is a beautiful place. Most the things to do there are all related to nature so we rented a camper van for three nights and set out to make our way around the island!
Day 1: We started out around Hobart and went to the art museum, a maze and tea room, Tessellated Pavements, the Remarkable Cave, and Port Arthur. (tessellated pavements is a place where the stone naturally forms a checkered pattern). At night we set up camp under the stars and literally right next to the beach. It was awesome.
Day 2: We went to Freycinet National Park, the Bicheno Blowhole, and Bay of Fires.
Day 3: We went to Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tazmazia (series of mazes and with funky buildings and things throughout.. not sure how to explain it haha), and Mole Creek Caves. The tour guide at the caves was hilarious. He asked us a lot of questions and he just tore Chris apart. First Chris didn't know the name of the thing that swings below a clock (the pendulum) and he told Chris to "get out of the books and start living in the real world". Then we reached a part of the cave where if your voice is deep enough it echo's really loudly. I told Chris to try it but the tour guide said you need a manly voice for it to work hahaha. Then tragedy struck and we didn't make it to day four where we were supposed to hit all the best national parks. So sad :( We got in a pretty bad car accident and totaled the camper van. Such a shame... But everyone is ok thankfully! It could have been a lot worse.
As we waited for the ambulance, Chris sat there taking a selfie and non-asian Alex was walking around eating a cheese and bacon roll while he's an 8 out of 10 on the pain scale... very typical of them.
The insurance here is great though! They sent two ambulances and I started panicking. I told them we don't need two because everyone was conscious and it would be a fortune since in the U.S. an ambulance costs a ton..i think. But turns out everything is covered if you're in an accident here.
Later, as Alex and I were getting a taxi back to the hotel we decided to stop by McDonalds of course. And who do we see loitering around the drive through waiting for a car to come by so they can order food? None other then Chris and Yolanda...even though it was about midnight and they had to walk from the hotel to McDonalds in a not-so-great physical condition. No surprise there though. And then we feasted. We ordered A LOT of food.. and I mean a lot.
Basically for the rest of the trip we ate everything unhealthy in sight because, according to our new motto, "we deserve it".
